Duluth East 5, Chisago Lakes 2
Chisago Lakes has been a tough out all year. They had only lost two tennis matches in their 16 meets until they ran into Duluth East last week, who they could see in the Section 7AA crossover match up if seedings play out.

The toughest match was at one singles, where Thomas Gillach lost, which is a rare occurrence. The Chisago Lakes’ wins came from Blake Lizotte at second singles and Patrick Sullivan and three singles.

But, they stretch two of the doubles matches to three sets, and if both of those go the ‘Cats way, it’s a different result. “We didn’t play well, but the loss already got us excited for sections,” Head Coach Jon Pieper said. “We know we can compete at every spot.”

Chisago Lakes 6, Grand Rapids 1
CL ran through an overmatched singles lineup against the Thunderhawks in their section northern match up of the week.

Gillach had another tough match at one singles, but Lizotte, Sullivan and Walter Matt picked him up with big wins. The doubles teams swept their spots, giving CL the nice win.

Chisago Lakes 6, Buffalo 1
After the tough loss, the ‘Cats rebounded to wrap up the Mississippi 8 Conference championship with a 6-1 win over Buffalo.

The win completed a perfect 9-0 M8C slate for Chisago Lakes.

All four singles players -- Gillach, Lizotte, Sullivan and Walter Matt -- won easily, and the first doubles team of Wyatt Melloy and Thomas Braski and the third doubles team of Jacob Carlson and Aron Johnson each won big, 6-1, 6-1.

The win moved the ‘Cats to 16-3 overall, and 9-0 in the conference.
