Rhianna Rinke will be making her mind-boggling fifth straight appearance while Jillian Yerges will be making her debut.
Rinke finished third in the Section 7AA meet with a time of 19:20, she finished behind two Forest Lake runners. Yerges punched her ticket to state with a 13th place finish in 20:09, she just beat out a pair of Andover runners for the final spots in the tourney.
The section race was on Princeton Golf Course, which was very soft from the recent rain. “It was quite a night, the runners left it all out there,” Head Coach Anna Geary said. “There were a lot of emotions at sections. We’re happy for those moving on, sad for those not and tears of joy and frustration. We saw it all.”
Among those not moving on for the sixth-place Vikings were Cora Hudella in 40th place, Gail Nelson in 66th and Julia Van Dyke in 83rd place.
Rinke and Yerges will be on the course at approximately 2 p.m. Saturday to compete in their state race.
On the boys side for North Branch, Aiden Bear was the top finisher with a 33rd place while Matthew Stuber came in 41st. Noah and Micah Pick came in 53rd and 63rd place, respectively, and Alex Bear came in 79th.
Chisago Lakes
Chisago Lakes also saw their season come to an end, only they don’t have the benefit of any state participants this weekend. Luke Crouse was the top boys finisher in 37th place and Nick Lindsey came in 51st. For the girls, Rebekah Olinger finished in 45th, Leah Dreckman in 49th, Juliette Martin in 56th and Annika Dubbs in 65th.
