For the first time ever, Minnesota high schools held mock elections. The state provided the ballots for the students last week. Chisago Lakes was one of the participants. The results? Trump won in a landslide with 257 votes to 97 votes for Clinton.  We will have to wait and see what sort of barometer these kids are.

This Saturday is the 25th annual Chisago Lakes PTO Craft Fair.  Held at the middle school, the fair will be filled with over 100 vendors who all are offering something different and special to help you this holiday season.  Many people get their Christmas gifts at the fair, and many people like us get their favorite foods (ie; pepper jam).  There is stuff for your children to do while you enjoy the fair, as well as food available.  Admission is free and the fair runs 9 am until 4 pm.  See you there.

November 11 is Veterans Day.  It is our chance to thank all Veterans including local ones.  There are a few different events taking place where you can help honor Veterans, and if you happen to be a Veteran, you are invited to take part in.  Friday morning at 10, Veterans are invited to Taylors Falls Elementary School to have cookies and coffee with students.  At 11 am, there will be a lunch served at the Taylors Falls Fire Department.  

At 1:30 p.m., the Chisago Lakes High School will honor Veterans with a program in the main gym.  Veterans and the public are invited to come.

Finally, at 3 p.m. there will be a dinner honoring all local Veterans held at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City.  The wonderful meal is free to all Veterans and others attending would be a free-will donation.  I have had this dinner in the past, and it is a wonderful meal.  There will be no speeches (except for a great big thank you) and the atmosphere is relaxed.
