We have really been spoiled with these crazy-warm temperatures lately. “They” tell us there is a potential storm looming later in the week, I will believe it when I see it. Just because I will be mowing this weekend, doesn’t mean you can’t begin to have some winter fun. Wild Mountain is officially open. They have a few hills that have snow, and people are enjoying the white stuff. If you are yearning for some skiing or snowboarding, head to Taylors Falls.
Speaking of Taylors Falls, November 25 is the beginning of their three day lighting festival. On Friday, you are invited to come visit with some local artists a the Taylors Falls Depot. Venture down the street for the annual Grand Lighting and Santa Parade. This is a wonderful event for the entire family that will definitely get you in the holiday spirit. There will be free wagon rides, booya, Santa Land and Mrs. Claus will be reading at the Library. On Saturday and Sunday there will be a holiday craft fair, tours of the Folsom House, a medallion hunt, a puppet show, Irish dancers, Bingo and a performance by the St. Croix Valley Orchestra. Please visit www.lightingfestival.com for details and times.
This weekend, you will receive our annual Holiday Gift Guide. Our sales staff and production team have worked tirelessly on this. The guide is filled with great ideas to make your holiday season one to remember. You will find tons of local businesses who would love to help you this season. From merchandise to services, these great businesses would love to ease your holiday anxiety. I know that I have said this a million times, but if we ALL make a concerted effort to shop locally as much as possible, it will make all the difference in the world to our community. Apart we are nothing, together we can do anything.
Speaking of that, November 26 is Shop Small Saturday. This is our chance to really get out in the community and support our local businesses. There are a ton of local businesses taking part in the event, so let’s get out and shop small. Thanks in advance.
If you or your family are going to be alone this Thanksgiving, please consider coming to the Community Thanksgiving Meal at the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City. The meal begins at 12:30 and is free. Please call the church at 651-257-6300 with any questions. See you there!
