I am told that if you or your group would like to be part of the Feed My Starving Children event next week, there are still some openings available.  They are hoping to pack 160,000 meals that will change children's lives around the world.  They have a financial goal of $33,000 which they are close to reaching. But there are a few two hour shifts available Friday night from 8:30 to 10:30 pm. and Saturday from 2 to 4 pm.  It is a great opportunity for families, groups of friends or organizations to make a difference in this world.  You can register at lakesfree.org or by calling 651-257-2677.

Sadly our community lost another good one.  It seems like it is every other week that I am writing about someone's passing.  This week it saddens me to let you know that Joe Wishy has passed away. Most of you know Joe from the Lindstrom City Council, where he served for many years.  Joe was a very opinionated person, but at the same time very passionate.  We have had hours of conversations here at the Press. Whether you agreed with his political views or not, Joe did have Lindstrom’s best interest in mind. He was instrumental in reviving the car show held during Karl Oskar Days.  If we ever had differing opinions, he always would hear the other side.  Joe leaves behind his beautiful wife Carolyn and his kids Kevin, Craig and Kelly.

The wonderful people who put on the Children's Outerwear Fair every year are still in need of help.  They are still looking for gently used winter coats, snow pants, mittens and gloves, winter hats, scarves and of course boots.  If you have yet to go shopping for your children's winter clothing, please consider donating their last year's clothing to the Outerwear Fair.  Your donations will help families from our area who are having a tough time making ends meet and the fair helps them more than you know.  The fair begins October 27 and runs through the 29th. So now is the time to donate, bless you for giving.

With the sudden drop in temperatures, the leaves have really started to turn and there’s some beautiful colors in the area.  If you really want to see some beautiful colors, I would suggest taking a Taylors Falls boat tour.  You board the paddle boat right in the middle of the picturesque rocks that line Interstate Park. The boat meanders its way down the river and when you get out of the rocks, the views are amazing. Trees as far as the eye can see.  Now imagine those trees with all of their fall beauty.

If you are a politician running for office, or maybe you are running for a local board position, this is the place for you.  For a low cost, we can ensure you get your name, your message, and your face to the public before the election. We have maximum coverage in the county and our readers are some of the most informed, most educated readers around.  Give us a call at 651-257-5115 or if you prefer email, send us an email to [email protected].  We can help you create an ad campaign that will reach the most eyes at an affordable price.
