Loss of words to describe the debate, send off summer with fun in the park

I had set out to write a column about the latest debate on Sunday night. I will be honest, I sat here staring at my computer for at least 15 minutes trying to find something to say about it.  I can’t. I have nothing.  Watching the debate was like watching your parents engage in a big time argument and you as a child just sat in the corner waiting for something terrible to happen.  I had that feeling during the entire debate - no scratch that, I couldn’t make it through the debate.  My stomach physically hurt watching those two.

This weekend is finally the Feed My Starving Children event. Held at Lakes Free Church, the event will run Friday and Saturday with multiple shifts.  Last week alone, they had 114 more volunteers come forward.  They still have 58 spots that need filling.  Honestly folks, if you have heard people talking about it and been curious, this is your chance to make a difference in this world.  Go to lakesfree.org to register. I will see you there Saturday.  It is so much fun and such a rewarding event, I hope you can help.

This Saturday in Chisago City there is something really cool taking place. Music in Moberg Park proudly presents Blues, Beer & BBQ.  It is just what you think it is, wonderful blues music performed by the super popular Kurt Jorgensen Tagg Band.  It is awesome bbq served by the rib shack of Stacy.  What goes with bbq and blues music? Beer of course. The concert begins at 3 p.m. and will run to 7 p.m.  Rotary will be serving the beer and beverages.  Hopefully the weather holds out.

Please remember the Outerwear Fair when you are sorting through your children’s winter clothing, etc. What may be too small for your child, may be just perfect for someone’s child who can’t afford a new jacket, hat, scarf, boots, mittens or gloves.  This is our chance to give back directly to our friends and neighbors who could use a helping hand right now.  Please bring your donations to Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom, or if it is easier, bring them here and I will see they get to the church.  Remember the Outerwear Fair is open runs October 27 and 28 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and October 29 from 9:00 a.m. until noon.

Chisago Lakes Hockey Arena invites parents and daughters this Sunday for Girls’ Hockey Day.  They will have one hour of free skating (2-3 p.m.)with representatives from the girls hockey program there to answer questions.  Arrive at 1:30. Skates will be provided but you are asked to please bring a bike helmet or hockey helmet and warm gloves.  The Vikings are off, so why not spend Sunday with your daughter?
