She was born Marie Purfeerst on October 13, 1927 in Faribault, MN to Roy Purfeerst and Margaret M. (Carpenter) Purfeerst. She married Fillip J. Sticha in 1947 and gave birth to their only child Wayne P. Sticha in 1948. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Ernest, Violet, and Myrtle; and her husband Fillip in 1994 and her second husband Richard Winterhalter in 2013.
She is survived by her sister Lorraine Reiter, son Wayne and his wife Valerie, grandsons Timothy, Jessiah, and Jeremy, and granddaughter Jennifer, and many of her husbands’ relatives.
Marie, Fill and Wayne moved to South Minneapolis in the early 50s and she became a beautician and eventually formed her own beauty shop on 34th and 50th street. She and Fill were extremely hard workers and finally retired and moved to Lindstrom in 1980. Marie is well-known in Lindstrom as an avid card player.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2016 at St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church in Lindstrom. Visitation one hour prior to the mass at church. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Bridget’s Catholic Church.
