The Solar Garden at Eichten’s Farm in Center City was shown to the public at an open house and ceremonial ribbon cutting on Wednesday, October 19. On hand were representatives from the Chisago Lakes School District and Ecumen, two major subscribers, as well as reps from Innovative Power Solutions, Xcel Energy and the major funders. They joined Ed Eichten from the Eichten family farm. The solar farm features 15,552 panels and will create savings in excess of $6 million over the life of the panels. Construction on the project began in late-July and the system will be online by mid-November.
