Friday, October 21 the sheriff’s patrol responded to a report that came in about 5 a.m. of a one car crash off Rush Point Road. Deputies found a 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer that appeared to have gone off the road at a high rate of speed, flipped and came to rest near a house.
The driver had fled but a passenger was stuck inside the vehicle. Rush City Fire Department helped extricate the passenger and Lakes Region EMS worked with LifeLink air to transport him to Regions Hospital.
Meanwhile the sheriff K-9 unit searched for the driver, who had been identified as Caske Owen, 23 of Fish Lake Township. The vehicle was equipped with an ignition interlock device and Owen has five DUI convictions, according to the sheriff’s news release.
The suspect was located at the house where the crash happened, with a head injury. He went by North Air to the hospital. The homeowners were not there during this incident.
October 22 a combine caught fire at Furuby and Spring Ave. Shafer Fire responded, no injuries reported to operator.
October 20 if you notice an extra Stihl concrete saw or tool belt with prybars, chalk and speed square lying about the house, there’s a Lent Township resident who reported these stolen from his truck.
October 19 the sheriff’s patrol went to near Chisago and Bench streets to make a warrant arrest about 2 a.m. and a squad car positioned on the perimeter was hit by a vehicle that was driven away from the scene.
The suspect driver was stopped and a field sobriety test administered that he reportedly failed. He was taken into custody.
