Man am I getting old; see you at the block party; grab your paddle
Remember the Feed My Starving Children event at the Free Church inLindstrom, is taking reservations for groups of volunteers.
Registration for the rest of us will open September 14. If you have a group or organization that would love to help, please call the church at 651-257-2677. The reason for the early registration for groups is to gauge if they should organize another shift or two. Don’t worry, if you are not part of a group or organization, there will plenty of chances to volunteer for this wonderful event. The pack takes place October 14 and 15.
This Saturday is the annual St Bridget of Sweden Block Party. For those of you like me, who would rather stay local than fight the crowds on the last weekend of the fair. this is a great, local event. The block party has something for everyone. Games for the kids, silent auctions, tons of great food, a beer tent and a show by Boogie Wonderland. The block party runs from 7 to 11 p.m. in the parking lot.
On Monday, you are invited to the grand opening of the Chisago Lakes Water Trail. Beginning at 11 a.m., you are invited to paddle in from wherever you choose and meet at Meredee’s Bistro beach in Lindstrom. There will be live music on the deck along with demonstrations on paddling techniques, kayak rescue and yoga on paddle boards. There will be a group paddling from the west that will meet at Ojiketa regional Park at 8:30 a.m. and make their way to Meredees. At the same time there will be a group departing from the South Center boat landing that will make their way to Meredees. It sounds like a great time and hopefully the weather cooperates.
