During the only stop in Chisago County, about 50-60 motorcycles rolled into the Harris American Legion where they were greeted and served cool beverages by Commander John Ploetz and staff. Great conversation and stories were shared.
Donations were presented to the Riders group (see photo above) by Chairman Steve Sullivan and Department (State) Commander Denise Milton by Commander Ploetz. (The cardboard cutout image is Paul Hassing, a 10th District Vice Commander, and Legion Rider who is currently serving in Afghanistan.
Legion Riders raised $103,000 that was presented at the 2015 National Convention.
This year, just during the two weekends of the ride they raised $117,000! More was raised after the ride, but, the total amount was to be disclosed August 30 at the 2016 National Convention in Cincinnati, Ohio.
A huge thank you to the Harris Post and all other legions for their hospitality.
