The Chisago County sheriff’s department is being assisted by state patrol investigating what led to a two vehicle crash, Friday morning Sept. 9 about 8:40, north of Center City, where County Roads 12 and 20 intersect. There is a through-street one way and there’s a stop sign on the other road.
Preliminary information is that one of the drivers fell asleep. Three persons were transported to metro area hospitals. LifeLink Air Care was dispatched, along with Center City Fire and Lakes Region EMS. One of the injured, an 11-year-old, died later at Regions Hospital.
Sunday, Sept. 11 a two year old went missing from a relative’s house on Olympic Trail, in Franconia Township. This was reported about 7:30 a.m. Several local firefighters and a state patrol person went to help search and the child was found unhurt, on a four-wheeler trail a mile away from the residence.
A fall September 10 from the rocks at Interstate State Park in Taylors Falls was reported about 5 p.m., near where the highwater floating dock, used by the paddlewheeler tours, is positioned. Witnesses estimate the 12 year old boy, who had a Minneapolis address, fell 40 feet. There was an off-duty paramedic nearby and he gave aid, along with sheriff’s patrol and Taylors Falls responders who were dispatched. The boy went to Children’s Hospital, where his condition was not immediately available. He was conscious when transported.
There were eight incident reports generated related to Hay Days over the weekend. They ranged from intoxicated disorderly person, to theft and trespassing.
Sept. 8 and 6, complaints about a private party stealing gravel off Falcon Avenue, which is a county road and from 455th near Deerwood in Fish Lake Twsp. A county highway employee reportedly observed the theft. The sheriff’s department was asked to investigate.
