Richard was born February 7 1933 in Stephenson, MI, the son of Victor and Annie Hanson. Richard grew up in the St Croix Falls area and graduated high school in 1951. He was on the basketball team when they won the Wisconsin state championship in 1950. In 1952 he married Fern C. Bloom, his high school sweetheart. They have been married for 63 happy years. Shortly after that he was drafted into the Army and served two years. Upon return he joined with his brother Bob in Hanson Business Service. Richard has been an Enrolled Agent/ CPA in the Taylors Falls area since 1954. He was a long time member of First Presbyterian church. He served on the Taylors Falls city council for many years and on the 1st National Bank Board. He was a member of the American Legion and was a Shriner. When Richard and Fern retired they enjoyed the snowbird life in Arizona.
Richard was a devoted family man and father of three daughters, Susan, Sharon and Sara. Richard suffered a stroke in 2011 and received exceptional care at Parmly and Comforts of Home and in the last days by Adoray Hospice. Left to celebrate his memory are his wife Fern, daughters Susan (Mark), Sharon (Carl) and Sara (Brian); his brother Robert (Helen); and grandchildren, great-grandchild, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Memorial services 11 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church in St. Croix Falls, WI followed by interment at the Taylors Falls Kahbakong Cemetery then returning for lunch at the Presbyterian church. Visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Open invitation to all friends and family.
