As a member of the Transportation Committee in the U.S. House, Rep Rick Nolan told members of the public who came to meet with him at Center City this week,  that committee members have not seen President Trump’s “trillion dollar” infrastructure and roads plan yet, which was promised in the campaign.

Rep. Nolan also commented on the bombing following chemical weapons’ use in Syria and said President Trump needs to get the peoples’ representatives involved in these decisions.

“Things could easily get out of hand,” he said of other nation’s reactions to acts such as this.  Rep. Nolan said he has called upon the House Speaker to bring Congress into the loop when monumental decisions are pending.

On the Affordable Care Act Congressman Nolan said the Democrats have been trying to get amendments and changes made but the GOP leaders “...never once let it come up under open rule” and allow for a free exchange of ideas that could improve the healthcare act.  Nolan says making healthcare available to all not only is the “right thing to do” it’s also most cost-effective.

Nolan commented on his work to try to get operations back to “regular order” and restore traditional process that gave everyone a chance for input and to air issues fully.  He said GOP lawmakers are even working with him on some problems like congresspeople being expected to raise money  at the “call center” near the capitol rather than doing their jobs in D.C.   On being named one of the top effective congress persons Rep. Nolan said he gets things done because he’s on the floor and in the agencies “working for the people who sent me.”
