North Branch Budget Host Inn & Suites was robbed at gunpoint a few minutes before midnight, April 13. North Branch officers and deputies responded but the suspect fled on foot and was not located.
North Branch Police describe the suspect as black, male, average height, he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and he showed a silver handgun to the desk clerk. He made off with just a few hundred dollars.
August 12 a deputy was called to assist a park ranger at Wild River State Park in enforcing midnight quiet hours. No subsequent problems. Also, National Parks personnel and deputies were dispatched about 9 p.m. and met up at the Sunrise St. Croix River Landing to aid a “lost” group of canoers. The canoe party was located downriver and brought by NPS boat back upstream to where they were supposed to have landed.
August 11 Set of keys found at Threshing Show. Call sheriff’s office and describe which car model the fob responds to.
Aug 10 there was a complaint of a bulldozer being loaded onto a trailer in Lindstrom at 2 a.m. The company employee retrieving the heavy machinery was verified by a Lakes Area officer.
August 9 a car fire at Sunrise Market outside Stacy reported. Party used a fire extinguisher successfully but vehicle had to be towed. Reported about 4:30 p.m. Stacy-Lent firefighters assisted in cooling and watching unit.
Two dogs were taken to Northwoods Humane Society by Lakes Area officers after citizens lodged complaints, one is a yellow Lab and one a Yorkshire terrier, black and brown.
There was also a “sick goose” dispatched by a deputy with help from a Lakes Area Dept. officer, and the DNR took custody of the remains to do tests.
A sick cat’s owner was located in Chisago City and the owner promised to get it care.
A motel in Chisago City complained of suspicious activity in the parking lot and an officer located juveniles who allegedly had poured “dipping sauce” on a car.
Charges are being reviewed by the county attorney related to a property damage “road rage” incident that began in a rural area, but ended with a Lakes Area officer making a stop and initiating a report at an address on Green Lake Trail.
