Pair of Ki Chi Saga Days Grand Marshals recognizable, filled with pro-active spirit
They’ve held very public jobs for many years and the extended Chisago Lakes community is better for it. They may be Lindstrom residents; but Chisago City has no doubt that their contributions are worthy of Grand Marshal distinction.
Jackie was with Chisago Lakes school district in the before and after school program and now serves kids as a paraprofessional for developmentally delayed pupils. Hers has been a familiar face around the Chisago Lakes Achievement Center on Hwy 8. where she is employed part time. About 26 years ago, when the Stensons first moved into this area she ran a home daycare while raising three children, the youngest of which is now attending college.
Kevin was most visible in his role in local law enforcement, ending his career late in 2016 as Lakes Area Police Chief. And, just as many people know him for his contribution to wrestling and baseball programs, teaching DARE at local gradeschools, and they know how he enjoyed combining law enforcement outreach with bike rodeo and summer Safety Camp events, as well as being a firearms and ATV instructor over the years.
Doris Zacho, Ki Chi Saga Days coordinator, said this choice was easy.
“They are among the most unassuming couples you will meet. Jackie has been a gift to many children in the community and to the down-trodden...(they are both) what community leaders should be.”
