He was born to Raymond and Carrie Ann Holmquist of rural Shafer, MN where he grew up on a dairy farm. He loved playing ball of any kind with his friends. He later became a partner on the farm and took up Dairy Herd Management at WITC Technical College in New Richmond, WI. But farming was not a profitable venture at that time, so he got out of dairy farming to take business courses at Century College in White Bear Lake, MN. When debilitating headaches and back trouble led him to go to a chiropractor, he was so impressed with the results that he decided to go to Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Bloomington, MN, where he got his degree.
Dr. Holmquist also participated in many events with the Chamber of Commerce and volunteered his time with the local Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Holmquist, and is survived by his mother, Carrie Ann Holmquist and his brother, Larry Holmquist, uncle Walter (Lorna) Andrewson, aunt May Anderson, and many cousins and friends.
