The parade was great, super long and filled with tons of floats. As you can see on the opposite page, everyone everywhere was having a great time.
If you were part of the Ki Chi Saga Days celebration or committee that helped put it on, thank you! It was so much fun for the community. Your hard work is very much appreciated.
I know this is a little early, but mark your calendars for next weekend. That is when St Bridget’s Catholic will hold their super-popular block party. The block party is a one day only event that features kids games, raffles, silent auctions, awesome food and drinks and a performance by Boogie Wonderland. Just because it is held on the church grounds doesn’t mean it’s a boring event. On the contrary, this is one of the funnest (is that a word?) events of the year and you will definitely see your friends and neighbors there. I will see you there.
I can’t believe I am sitting here writing about another loss of a local business person. It seems like a monthly occurrence.
This week, it saddens me to announce that Dr. Lonnie Holmquist has left us. Lonnie grew up in Shafer and if you ever played men’s league softball, you would have definitely remembered Lonnie. Lonnie ran Holmquist Chiropractic here in Lindstrom for as long as I can remember. He was a fixture in the town, as a local Lion, at the Home Show to name a few. Lonnie was only 57 - way too young. Lonnie you will be missed by many.
So we here at the Press got sucked into the eclipse hype. Only one of us was able to secure the eclipse glasses one needed to gaze into the sun. So as we begged and begged to please let us see the sun, eventually we got to take a look. I saw it, it was beautiful, it was white and it was fluffy. Fluffy? Yeah fluffy - all I saw were clouds.
All of this build up and we here in Littletown USA get clouds - oh, and rain. I had visions of running out into the street and street lights would be shining bright, cars would have their high beams on, and people would be losing their minds. Nope, I got an eye full of rain. First I emptied my bank accounts and erased all of my computers when 2K rolled around, now this. Maybe I need to temper my expectations a bit, who knows. I do know that I have already placed my Amazon order for 6 million pairs of eclipse glasses for the next eclipse in seven years. Ever the optimist.
