The Christmas display at 8785 Green Lake Trail, rural Chisago City will be lit up for a final season in memory of Raymond and Betty Pliscott. Christmas was always the most favorite time of the year for them. Even when times got tough they always made sure Christmas was a big celebration for family and friends. No one would leave without a full stomach and a gift.

Pliscott family Christmas at the residence, across from the golf driving range, began in 1968. The Christmas celebration was an inside event until 1985 when the first outside lights were put on the house pillars.  As the years went on more lights were added to the rest of the house. Later on lights were added to the barn and outbuildings. This was followed by lights being added to the trees and yard decorations. This brought outdoor activities of hayrides and bonfires with the occasional snowball fight. A skating rink was added when weather permitted.

Ray and Betty had 13 children, which made for a big Christmas celebration. As time went on introduction of in‐laws or grandchildren became an annual event. As great grandchildren began to enter into the celebration Christmas soon became a huge event.

The huge light display is what Ray and Betty enjoyed sharing with the entire community. It was their gift to everyone. Many gifts were exchanged at the Pliscott Christmas but no matter how many gifts they received, the one Ray and Betty cherished most was that the entire family would show up for every Christmas.
