Joyce was born on May 5, 1932 to Theodore and Mabel (Arvidson) Skoglund. She grew up on the family farm in Eagle Bend with two brothers and one sister. Joyce graduated from Eagle Bend High School, continued her education at Minnesota School of Business and was employed at Lutheran Brotherhood.
Joyce married Rolland Gray and they were blessed with two daughters, Kathy and Cheryl. Joyce married the second love of her life, Myron Johnson, on July 8, 1978 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church. Joyce was a loving homemaker and dedicated her time to her husband and to raising her children. She was also an active member and mentor at her church. She had a passion for flowers, bird watching and baking/cooking. The warmth and generosity she continuously displayed were truly admirable. Joyce has touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
Joyce is preceded by parents Theodore and Mabel; first husband Rolland Gray; sister Marilyn Bottemiller and grandson Scott Anderson.
She is survived by husband Myron Johnson; daughters Kathy Gray-Anderson and Cheryl Flynn; granddaughters Danielle, Nikki, Emily; great grandchildren Faith and Braiden; brothers Allan Skoglund, Don (Betty) Skoglund, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City with Rev. Steve Molin officiating.
Visitation at Grandstrand Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 29 from 4-7 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. Interment will follow the service at Hillside Cemetery in Center City.
