Celebration was great despite the cancellation; Home Show is next

Well the Celebration of the Lakes has come and gone. Once again, we were at the mercy of Mother Nature.  We unfortunately had to cancel a few of the events including the big one, the snowmobile radar runs.  Most people would say, "Why bother with the celebration if stuff is cancelled?"  To them I would say "Come out and see how the celebration is even with events cancelled".  I was out there all weekend long, and the crowds that were there were having a wonderful time.  People are still searching for a reason to get out and enjoy our area during the winter months. The weather was great and I didn't see anyone freezing their snowpants off.  We are always looking for new events to add to the celebration to make it even better, so if you have an idea or two, please share it with Wendy and Lori at the chamber.

I would like to take this time to personally thank those who worked so hard during the year to make the Celebration happen.  The people that organize these events never get their due thanks, so from me and the rest of the attendees of the Celebration of the Lakes - THANK YOU!  You are appreciated!

We have the Home Show just around the corner.  We have more vendors than the past few years and the show is shaping up nicely.  We still have room for your business if you would like to join us.  Just give the Chamber a call at 651-257-1177 and we will get you set up with a booth.  The show is a great opportunity to get in front of a couple thousand Chisago County residents that might want exactly what you are selling.

Here at the Press, we are beginning to put together the 2017 Chisago Lakes Community and Visitor Guide.  The guide has grown each and every year.  The first year we put the guide out, it was 36 pages.  Last year, the guide was 82 pages. It is filled with a ton of information, local events, rich history and makes a wonderful pick-up for residents and visitors.  If you ever have thought about local advertising, but are reluctant, this is your one "must buy". By that, I mean by purchasing an ad in the guide, it is an ad that will last the entire year long.  How is that as a bang for the buck? Give us a call at the Press at 651-257-5115 or email us at [email protected] we will be more than happy to help you create an eye catching message to get out to the public.

I don’t know what to make of all of the protests taking place in the USA right now. Yes, some of the decisions made at the White House have left me scratching my head. But never, ever would I consider burning a flag.  Believe what you want, feel what you want, even tell people how mad you are, but if you are burning a flag near me, be warned, I will not stand for it.  Not now, not ever.
