The sheriff’s K9 unit located a suspected drunk driver who had reportedly fled the scene of a crash at Acacia Way and Acacia Trail, reported at 2 a.m. The rollover crash resulted in no serius injuries. Charges are pending against the DUI suspect.
A fire reported in Rush City area, at a residence on Government Road. Incident was called in about 4:30 p.m. Rush City firefighters responded and quickly extinguished.
Saturday, January 28 passers-by may have observed the sheriff’s SWAT called out to an address on Ivywood Trail-- but tactical services were ultimately not necessary to secure the arrest. The suspect was known by law enforcement and considered to be unpredictable.
A rooster was being kept illegally at a chicken coop in Chisago City. Police requested removal.
Friday, January 27 Chisago City firefighters attended to a possible over-heating electric fixture in Laketown Apartments in Chisago City. Concern was called in about noon.
A sheriff’s patrol squad noticed suspicious activity at an address on Andee Court near Harris, about 10 a.m. The address had been the location of an earlier burglary and the deputy who followed through on the suspicious vehicle, made an arrest of two alleged burglars (male and a female) when he stopped to investigate this day. Charges are pending.
Two cell phones were reported as stolen from students at the Chisago Lakes Middle School.
January 23 and 24 there were ATV crashes in the north end of the county that resulted in injury to a person. One incident was on Fairfield Avenue at 1 p.m. Jan. 23 and the other was at an address on Basswood Road.
Authorities were alerted by Unity Bank of a counterfeit $20 bill passed at Burger King, in Rush City.
