My wife and I had a chance to go to the Chisago Lakes Rotary Casino night on Saturday.  The event was held at Ojiketa Regional Park in Strom Hall.  The theme was James Bond and just about everyone was dressed as a Bond character or villain. The event was catered by Eichten’s and it was fabulous.  The night was so much fun. We ate, drank, and gambled for hours. We are not gamblers, so to gamble with fake money made it that much more fun.  The Rotary did such a great job to coordinate the event.  Everyone there had a blast.  If you get a chance next year to attend the event, I highly recommend it.

We now have a slight lull in events in our area.  The next event up will be the snowmobile drags that are taking place on February 25 on North Center Lake. Stay tuned, we will let you know if the event is cancelled due to weather.

This turmoil that is taking place in Washington has made me realize something about our area.  There is something to be said about our local governments. While once in a while we might have an issue or two, all in all we have a very stable local government and that makes me happy.  You may agree or disagree with what is taking place on Capitol hill, but one hing is certain, back here you know what you are getting.  Thank you to our local politicians for being so level headed.

There is something really neat taking place on February 25. The Chisago Lakes Hocket Association invites all kids ages four to nine to come play hockey for free.  Beginning at 2 p.m., kids are invited to come skate on the big rink and learn about hockey in a friendly low-pressure environment.  There will be skates available but you are asked to please bring sweatpants or snowpants, a pair of gloves or mittens, a helmet (can be a bike helmet) and s good attitude. Who knows, maybe you have the next Blake Lizotte in your household.
