Sunday, February 12 was anything but a routine day for area law enforcement incidents... there was a report about 2:45 p.m. of a suicidal male with access to firearms, inside a house in the neighborhood near the historic church in Center City.  Interior  town roads and County Road 9 were affected, and access restricted.  SWAT, sheriff’s cars and Lakes Area, Wyoming and North Branch police also assisted with traffic and security.

The man, age 43, was talked out of the house without injury by the Crisis Negotiation Team, after about two hours. He was taken to a metro hospital for assessment and observation.

Also Sunday, Lindstrom Fire Department was sent to an ATV crash scene on Chisago Lake;  as ice wasn’t able to support regular emergency response vehicles. The victim, not identified, was transported.
And a bicycle rider hit a fire hydrant on Old Towne Road at 284th about 6:30 p.m.  The person who called 9-1-1 said the rider was unconscious briefly but had regained consciousness when officers arrived. Lakes Region ambulance transprted the person to the Fairview emergency room in Wyoming.

February 10 a middle school student was cited by Lakes Area Police for possessing tobacco and a lighter in school.

February 8 a gas spill was reported at Kwik Trip in Chisago City about 9 a.m. Chisago City Fire Dept. helped with cleanup and the PCA Duty officer was notified.  The spill was approximately 10 gallons.
February 6 a male reported to be suicidal, armed with a gun, was compliant with law enforcement orders and was talked out of his house by officers about 1 a.m.  The incident was at 30683 Forest Blvd., Stacy area.

Also on February 6 a woman called the sheriff’s department about 8 a.m. to report her garbage can had had a fire in it, and she was reporting it as vandalism.

She later learned that a 65-year-old man had crashed his truck on I 35 about 3 a.m. and walked away, leaving the vehicle in the median. His dog had fled the scene and he was trying to follow tracks to locate it.

He soon realized he needed to find warmth and when he came across the garbage can on Galaxy Avenue, he lit the contents on fire to warm up.

Sheriff’s authorities came upon the man after receiving a call from someone who noticed the pickup in the freeway median. Lakes Region EMS attended to the man in their ambulance.  The dog was located over a mile away.

The Press wasn’t able to contact the woman to find out if she is being reimbursed the $75 the hauler requested to replace her destroyed garbage can.

Also on Monday, Feb. 6 a car was stolen about 8 a.m. from Rush City Holiday Station that was left running at the pumps.

Cameras showed the suspected thief who was known to sheriff’s patrol. The area deputy put out the description of the vehicle and suspect immediately, and car and driver were found after the suspect crashed in Pine County, when state patrol initiated a pursuit.
