I spoke with the good folks at the Wild River Snowmobile Club this week. They notified me that the Radar Runs which were supposed to take place this weekend on North Center Lake. Looking out the Press window and watching two people push strollers past while wearing t-shirts, you could probably guess the radar runs have been cancelled.  When they cancelled them during the Celebration of the Lakes, we still held out hope that we would still see snowmobiles racing this year.   Maybe next year, but thanks to all who tried.

There is still time to get your business in the Chisago Lakes Home, Business and Garden Expo.  This is a great chance to show the public exactly what your business is about and how you can help them.  If you have never participated in the show and are leery, trust me, I was leery the first time as well.  The show is actually fun to participate in.  It is a relaxed atmosphere where most people love to stop and chat.  I now look forward to the show, I love connecting with people.

This Saturday at the Chisago Lakes Arena, you are invited to bring your kids to Try Hockey for Free Day.  It is their chance to learn the basics of hockey.  This is also their chance to possibly start an athletic career they had never thought about.  Either way, they will have a blast and learn something at the same time.

As I write this, the radio in the background is going on and on about the storm of the century.  In the beginning of the week, they were telling us we could expect an inch of snow. Now (it was just on the radio) they are saying we could get 14 inches Thursday night into Friday.  What? How does their models change that quickly?  I have always been in favor of big snow storms. I love them. Stay inside, make some hot food and catch up on some shows or movies we have missed.  Kids are forced to stay home with their boring old parents (that is my favorite part).  I say bring it on, and on.
