Well it looks like winter might just stick around.  That is good news for those of us who love the Celebration of the Lakes.  We need a certain amount of ice to hold the snowmobile drag races, and right now it will be very close.  Let’s keep our fingers crossed, the celebration is great especially with all of the snowmobiles.  Mark your calendars and plan to attend the Celebration of the Lakes. If you turn to page 9, you will see the most up-to-date version of the schedule of events for the celebration.  events are being added all the time, but if you take a look, there is plenty, and I mean plenty of fun things for you and your family to take in. Why not spend the weekend on the ice? We are Minnesotans after all.  Here is the best part - women (and men), you don’t have to dress up! You can wear your winter coats hats and gloves and you will look just as fashionable as the person next to you.  That’s a part of the celebration I love, it’s a community gathering where we all look the same. My hair is just as messy as yours.

Like you, I was saddened to see Swensons Lake House close its doors last month.  I really thought they had something special there in Center City.  Who knows what will occupy that building next, but in the meantime, there are some wonderful alternatives.  We have some really great restaurants and bars in our area.  We have found some off the beaten path places that have really turned out to be great dining places. Take some time to explore the area, you will be amazed at the quality of food you can find.

This year I did not make a resolution.  I fail horribly when I make them.  Instead, I am going to just simply try to be a better person.  I will volunteer more when I am able and try to put people before myself.  Pretty tall task, but vague enough to really stick to it.
