Saturday, January 14 a snowmobiler broke through an icy section of small Bull Lake, between North Center and North Lindstrom, about 4:30 p.m. and authorities responded to his call and gave him a ride home. He returned the following day to retrieve the sled. The operator made it to dry land on his own and was not hurt.

Wed., January 11 a house fire reported in Rush City on Third Street, about 2:40 a.m.  Sheriff’s information is that the family exited the dwelling without injury. Most of the basement was destroyed by the fire.  Smoke detectors alerted inhabitants to get to a safe place. The Fire Marshal is investigating.  North Branch, Harris and Pine City were dispatched to assist Rush City firefighters.

January 11 there was a crash between a county plow truck and a passenger vehicle at Athens Blvd. and #30, Lent Township. The accident was reported about 2:30 p.m.  No injury resulted.  

The car was northbound on #30 behind the truck and just as the truck started a turn to the left, the driver of the car sped up to pass the plow and was hit.  The turn signal was apparently obscured by swirling snow.      

Tuesday, Jan. 10 a bus carrying numerous students went off the road near Wild Mountain. Sheriff’s investigators determined the driver was not in violation of requirements or any laws, and then proceeded to help with getting the bus out of the ditch, about 3 p.m.  There were no injured students but many were transported to a nearby restroom.
