I hope you and your family had a wonderful Fourth of July.  It was an odd year having it fall in the beginning of the week. Lots of us had to come to work on Monday only to get Tuesday off. I favor the holidays that land on Fridays or Mondays personally.  We didn't do anything special, just spent the weekend relaxing with friends and puttering around the house.  Just the way I like it, relaxed.

We are on the brink of Karl Oskar Days. That's right, in one week, Lindstrom will showcase its super popular celebration.  Make plans with your friends and family to take in as much Karl Oskar Days as possible.  If you turn to page 8 in this Press, you will find an entire page of events at this year's celebration.  Karl Oskar Days officially kicks off on Wednesday, July 12.  There’s a free guided walking tour of Lindstrom, a farmers’ market and Harmony in the Park where you can meet this year's ambassador candidates. There will be a free family movie outdoors following Harmony in the Park.

Thursday has the Kaffe Kanna Park ribbon cutting as well as downtown diva night and a cribbage tournament at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Friday, the celebration really kicks it into high gear. The walking tours continue at 3 p.m. along with a photo show from the St. Croix Valley Camera Club.  The show will be held at the Lindstrom Office Center, on mainstreet.  There is a craft beer sampler at Lindstrom Liquors that runs from 5 - 7 p.m.

Friday at Beach Park, there is a ton of stuff to do.  There are huge inflatables to climb on and ride on. There is a bungee trampoline that you absolutely will not catch me on. There is a beer garden that opens at 5 p.m. with live music beginning at 6 p.m.  Also at the beach, there is a wine & canvas event where you can learn to paint and sip some great wine. There is a kids volleyball tournament that begins at 2 and the whole day is wrapped up with fireworks, so bring your blankets, chairs and bug spray. It promises to be a great time.

Remember the beginning of Karl Oskar Days also is the beginning of the great snuff box hunt.  Somewhere in city limits is a snuff box hidden. It is Karl Oskars snuff box.  Clues will be posted directing you where it is hidden. Find the snuff box, earn some cold hard cash.  Make sure you have a Karl Oskar Days button because that will double your prize.  Remember it has to be on public property. Good luck!
