He was born on October 3, 1950 in St. Croix Falls, WI to Donna and Ellis Sedlund. Lee was baptized by his great grandfather, Rev. N.J.W Nelson as an infant in St. Peter, MN and was confirmed June 6, 1965 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Almelund, MN.
As a boy he loved to roam the woods with friends where he grew up in Palmdale, MN. Lee was the oldest of six children. The family eventually moved to Almelund, MN. He was a resident of Chisago County his entire life. He began his schooling in Taylors Falls, MN. In his school years he was an active member of FFA and also spent a lot of time working for local farmers. He graduated from Chi-High in 1968 and enlisted in the United States Navy shortly after turning 18. Most of his four year service was spent on a refueling ship called the U.S.S Hassayampa during the Vietnam War.
After his honorable discharge, he worked a few maintenance jobs and eventually returned to Almelund working with his dad on the family farm. He was a volunteer with the Almelund Fire Department for many years. He purchased the Almelund Hardware store in 1984 and expanded with a second location in Lindstrom, MN. His experience in the Navy and determination to fix things on the farm developed his mechanical expertise. Lee successfully ran his business, Lee’s Lindstrom Appliance Service, from 1978 until he retired in 2016. He was always passionate about his work truck dubbed, “Lee’s Toolbox” that carried his tools and parts.
In 1986, he married Christina Adams at Chisago Lakes Lutheran Church. Together they lived in Lindstrom and raised their two daughters. The family would enjoy visiting state parks and Lee loved early morning cross country skiing. Some of the greatest family memories were on vacations to San Diego, Idaho, Arizona, Florida, and Washington D.C.
In retirement, he had a standing tee time every Friday with his friends and also enjoyed fishing, gardening, home projects, and spending time with his family. He loved learning new things and was happy to share his knowledge with anyone who asked. He will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and humor.
