Thank you to all who came out and enjoyed the home show this weekend. I have not heard the numbers but the crowd was steady all weekend long. The show featured over 75 vendors and they seemed happy with the turnout. Thank you to all who worked so hard to make this year’s show a success.  

I had a bast at the show. This is one of my favorite events. It gives me a chance to meet a whole bunch of our readers and advertisers. I could listen to people’s stories all day long.  We have so many interesting people in our area.

Thanks to all who provided entertainment in the show including Aladdin and Jasmine from the movie Aladdin. Thanks to The River City Cloggers for another great show. St. Croix Regional Medical Center gave some great tips to the audience about health and fitness.   Home Spun Treasures had a huge turnout for their chalk painting demonstration. The barn quilt demonstration by Oaksy was really interesting.  She’s Crafty showed us all some real neat art and decorating skills on Sunday. Brad Madison Photography ran a great photo booth where plenty of people had a blast donning costume items and having photos taken.  All in all, it was a fun weekend. And for all of you who seemed to have the same thought, yes I will get a different photo soon. Everyone tells me I look like a teenager in my picture.  So if I look like a teenager, why would I want to replace it with one where I am an old run-down man?  Maybe the photo will stay.

If you hurry, you can still guess the ice out date on Bachman Photography’s Facebook page.  If you are right, you will receive a $25 gift certificate to be used towards a sitting with Bachmans.  The way today (Tuesday) is going with the wind, I would guess it will be soon.

Speaking of thin ice, I know I sound like a broken record, but there are still people venturing out on the ice. The ice is so dark right now and with the wind and rain, I am not a DNR officer, but there is no possible way it can be safe right now. Do yourself and your family and the first responders a favor and just stay home.  Heck, you will be in your boat fishing soon anyway.

The Chisago Lakes Golf Course is open and people are golfing. Hard to believe but we have had some really nice days.  If you haven’t tried the newly renovated restaurant at the course, you should. I hear their fish fry on Fridays is pretty darn good. Todd and the board are doing a great job transforming the restaurant into a great environment.
