Janet was born on October 14, 1939 in Atlantic, Iowa to Percy and Ethel (Daley) Heilig. Janet was proud to be part of the “Theological Offspring” club, with her father being a Baptist minister and part of the founding group of Chisago Lakes Baptist Church. She grew up on a dairy farm in Chisago City. At age 17 she represented her family and community as a Dairy Princess in Chisago County.
Janet married Donovan Autey of Forest Lake in August of 1959 and they had six children together. She loved baking, shopping and decorating her homes. Her church and gospel music were very important to her and she would often begin singing a favorite hymn while you were visiting with her. She collected sunflower and chicken items with a passion and often gave them away to friends and family who loved them too. She always brought a smile for her friends and the staff at Ecumen.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Ethel Heilig; brothers Gene, Bob, Herb, and Steve, and her husband Donovan, and special friend Cal.
She is survived by her aunt Joyce Daley; sister Judi (Sam) Harms; brothers Bruce (Pauline) Heilig and Glen (Angie) Heilig; children Terri (Gregg) Chartrand, Debbie Nichols, Charlene Linnae, Jeff Autey, Dan (Tali) Autey; and Nate (Jenni) Autey. Her grandchildren Jenna and Jordan Chartrand, David (Sarah) Nichols, Jessica (Jeremy) Marquez, and Josh (Emily) Rawlings; great grandchildren Leo, Freja, and Mason Rawlings and Ezra Marquez. She is also survived by many loving family members and friends.
