Lakes Area Police had a few calls related to four-legged culprits the past week...there was a racoon in a stormwater collection grate in need of assistance,  and also causing some trouble were opossums thought to be ill or injured in Fairview Cemetery, and a couple dogs were detained as strays.  One is a black lab with an orange collar picked up March 20, near Park Street and the other is a white German shepherd type dog, caught on Highway 8, March 21.

A report of construction tools missing from East Viking Blvd. address sometime during this week.

March 24 the sheriff patrol car was sent to a report of loud noise about 4:30 p.m. like an explosion near Furuby Road, rural Shafer. The property owner was shooting tannerite on private property, not illegal.

March 23 East Central Electric was called to assist a deputy at the scene of electrical system malfunction, at Rush Point and Bayview, March 23 about 2:30 a.m.
March 22 a report of a theft from a car about 7 a.m. on 4th Street in Rush City.  

Stolen cell phone was tracked electronically and suspects were followed to North Branch Holiday and into Wyoming.  Three suspects fled on foot but were apprehended, with help from Wyoming officers.

And, March 22 a home break-in and a suspicious vehicle report were related.  The car was encountered by sheriff patrol about 9 p.m. on Rushseba Trail and occupants were identified. The gas tank guage was on empty as the deputy made contact with the driver. The driver re-started the car and drove off. Close-by the deputy noticed items of personal property scattered in a wooded area and using information off the items the deputy contacted owners, and learned a residential burglary had occured.  The car occupants are under investigation.
