Tony James Vondelinde pled guilty to one count of second degree assault with a dangerous weapon. He will serve 120 days in jail, with a 36 month jail term stayed for seven years. He is credited with 46 days already served. While on probation he will submit to random tests for alcohol and must not enter bars or liquor stores during probation. He undergoes anger management counseling and pays a $250 victim assistance fee to the court among other conditions of his plea.
November 12 Lakes Area Police retrieved a stray dacshund dog, brown and reddish in color and transported it to the Northwoods Humane Society. Dog was found in Lindstrom.
November 11 a pursuit was undertaken by a sheriff’s patrol deputy as the vehicle came out of Isanti into northern Chisago County. An arrest was made for fleeing and possession in the fifth degree. Pursuit only covered about four miles, with the driver finally pulling over due to a flat tire. Incident happened approximately 11 p.m.
A Lakes Area squad car was hit by another vehicle turning at Park St. and Hwy. 8, about 3 p.m. No injuries reported.
A 1999 Mustang submerged in the St. Croix River, was reported by a passer-by about 2 p.m. November 10. The car was near the Intertstate Park campgrounds off Milltown Road. Plates and registration were checked and it had been recently reported as a stolen vehicle by the registered owner who resides in Minneapolis.
Investigators found nothing to indicate there was a driver or passenger in the car when it went into the river. PLC Towing & Recovery aided authorities removing the vehicle.
Nov. 10 Xcel was called to Fairview Clinic in Chisago City about 11:45 a.m. on a natural gas smell. The site was checked out and people were moved to another building but no leak was detected and the building was okayed for use.
Nov. 10 about 11:30 p.m. there was a report of a lightpole knocked down and destroyed in Center City. Footprints in snow showed it had been moved off the roadway.
Sheriff’s personnel got a couple of calls complaining of trespassing by deer hunters and one house was hit by a gunshot on 280th in Franconia Twsp. The slug was recovered inside. (Second incident this year.)
November 9 an attempted theft of a vehicle at Jim’s Auto Sales was apparently interrupted when a caller reported suspicious activity, about 6:30 p.m. A K9 unit went to the Rush City location but could not establish the route of the suspect. An ignition had been punched on a car in the lot.
