Steven “Stu” Peterson, age 35, passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Chisago City, Minnesota on November 10, 2017 after a courageous year-and-a-half battle with brain cancer.

Steven was born March 30, 1982 in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin to Mike and Karen Peterson.  He graduated from Chisago Lakes High School in 2000 and went on to play football and wrestled at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where he graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education.  He was employed as an Operations Manager at the family business, Peterson Companies and was the head varsity wrestling coach at Centennial High School.  Steven had a love for sports at a young age and it continued throughout his entire life.  Whether as a player or coach, he brought a wealth of skill, knowledge, passion, dedication and success to everything he did.  Steven loved life and brought joy to everyone who met him.  
Steven is preceded in death by his grandfathers Curtis Peterson and Maurice Peterson.  

Steven is survived by his parents, Mike and Karen; siblings Jenny (Steve) Farr, Jon (Candyce), Curt (Kristen), and Kristi (Brad) Pitlik, as well as his loving and devoted girlfriend Mariah Stoeckman; grandparents Marcella Peterson and Ramona Peterson; nieces and nephews Tyler, Laura, and Aaron Farr; Gavin Peterson; Kaylee, Kamryn, and Kenadee Peterson; and Sutton, Ainsley and Miles Pitlik; Godparents Tom and Kathy Fisk, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended cousins and enough friends that could fill a football field.     

A celebration of Steven’s life will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Chisago Lakes High School gymnasium starting at 11 a.m.  Visitation Friday, November 17 at Zion Lutheran Church, Chisago City, MN from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow the service at Chisago Memorial Park across from Zion Lutheran Church.  Please join us for lunch and a celebration of Steve’s life following the burial,  at Chisago Lake Township Hall, 12400 318th Street in Lindstrom, Minnesota.
