Richard, known as “Rich” to his family and “Dick” to his friends was born on July 9, 1941 in Adrian, Minnesota to Raymond and Jeanetta Hindt. He grew up on the family farm along with his brother and six sisters. While attending Worthington High School, he received Christ as his personal Savior and became a born-again Christian.
After high school, he furthered his education at Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He also attended Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minnesota.
While attending Woodcrest Baptist Church, he met Barbara Wilder and they were united in marriage on January 23, 1965. Their marriage was blessed with five children Brian, Callie, Blair, Brad, and Barry.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Some of his favorite activities were fishing, camping, water skiing, boating, playing pool, golf, and every kind of card game. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making furniture. He was an all-around handyman and his business card slogan read “There are a few things I cannot do!” He loved to joke around and was known for his dry humor!
He attended Chisago Lakes Baptist Church for 40+ years until he moved to Athens, GA in 2016. He enjoyed being a deacon, working in AWANA, and teaching children in Sunday School.
Richard was loved and is survived by his wife, Barbara, of nearly 53 years; his children Brian (Patricia) Hindt, Callie (Brad) Pemberton, Blair Hindt, Brad (Christine) Hindt, Barry (Denise) Hindt; his 24 grandchildren, four sisters, and many nieces and nephews. He will surely be missed!
