Kids can become Jedi at the library; don't forget about our farmers markets
Next week is Fire Safety (Fire Prevention) Week. It’s our chance to visit local fire halls, climb on trucks and take part in firefighter drills. Most importantly its our chance to meet the wonderful men and women who make up the local fire departments in our county. These brave individuals take time out of their busy lives each and every week to train, meet, practice and of course fight fires. Often times these folks are the first ones on the scenes of accidents and medical emergencies. I personally know many of the firefighters in our area, and I can say with certainty these are some of the most dedicated individuals I have ever met. I hope you take time out next week to thank your local firefighters.
Saturday night at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church, you are invited to a fun program called Swedish Duo - Blue Eyed Blondes. You will be treated to actors performing a program called "Where is My Home" that includes songs and dialogue about Swedish immigrants and how the journey changed their lives. The program is a free will offering and money raised will go towards funding a new piano for the church. The program begins at 7 p.m.
As we near (gulp) winter, I wanted to remind you that the local farmers markets are still going and putting out some great produce and decorations. Chisago City's holds theirs in Moberg Park every Friday evening and Lindstrom holds theirs every Wednesday and Saturday next to St. Bridget Catholic Church. We just got some of the best sweet corn at the market along with some corn stalks.
Congratulations to Nils Gulbranson of the Chisago Lakes Wildcats boys soccer team. Nils scored two goals on Tuesday evening to become the all-time leading single season goal scorer in Chisago Lakes boys soccer history with 30, breaking Chris Golv's mark of 28. Hopefully Nils and the team can earn a trip to State this year.
