Tuesday, October 3, the Wildcats went on the road to face the St. Michael Albertville Knights. The Knights scored two goals in the first half under wet and muddy conditions. In both cases, goalkeeper Thea Kluge did a good job of coming off her line to capture the ball. Unfortunately, the ball was so slippery it squirted out of her grasp to an awaiting Knight for the score. The Wildcats played very well in the second half, but could not provide the equalizers. The game ended in a 2-0 loss for the Wildcats.
Wildcat head coach Wayne Kugel said, “It’s been a tough week from a win / loss point of view. But all told, we have had an outstanding regular season. We ended in the top half of the Mississippi 8 and we have built up a program that was rewarded with a winning season for every team we fielded this year – varsity, JV and JV2. I couldn’t be more proud of all of them. Our teams play hard for each other through every minute of every match.”
