Sunday, October 22 you may have noticed crews replacing a power pole on Chisago Boulevard on the south end of Chisago Lake early this week.  Damage was due to a passenger car striking the pole at Maxwell Road and breaking the pole in-two.  Authorities found the vehicle abandoned about 4:15 a.m.  The insurance information card was located inside the vehicle and sheriff’s personnel are investigating.  Xcel was notified to replace the pole, which according to an energy company lineman said would be okay, in the position it was left in,  as long as the car wasn’t towed.

Saturday, October 21 a good Samaritan reported to 9-1-1 encountering a pickup truck appearing to have gone off the road, near Rydeen and 305th Street about 3 a.m. outside of Shafer.
Sheriff’s deputies and emergency responders arrived and found two male occupants trapped inside.  With assistance from Shafer-Franconia firefighters,  the men were extricated from the overturned Ford truck.

One injured party was transported to Regions and one, believed to have been driving, went to Fairview in Wyoming where a blood draw was done by search warrant.  The DUI suspect was to be booked into jail once doctors released him. Chisago County is investigating.

October 19 several incidents of mail tampering are being experienced in rural Rush City area.  One carrier drove past a site and saw mail scattered and re-delivered it on Birch Avenue. It has been an ongoing problem, authorities say.

October 18 a multi-vehicle accident on Olinda Trail at 260th was reported about 3:45 p.m. It did not cause any serious injury but one party felt sore from air bags hitting his chest.  The crash involved a non-commercial trailer being pulled with rock in it,  and the car immediately behind it slowing when the trailer signalled and slowed to turn-- but a second car did not stop and hit the car closest to the trailer and the truck pulling the trailer was also damaged.  Everyone at the scene refused medical care. One car had to be towed.

October 17 a theft of numerous tools from Royal Concrete in Stacy.
