Ojiketa Regional Park is a one-stop place for your Halloween excitement
At 3 p.m. there will be spooky stories told by Chisago Lakes Librarian Kirsten Vaughan.
At 3:30 p.m. kids are invited to take in a magic show. I have seen the show before, kids really love this show.
From 4-4:30 p.m. kids will line up outside Strom Hall to begin a cabin to cabin trick-or-treat.
You are asked to dress your children in their Halloween costumes and everyone is asked to please bring some non-perishable food items to help fill the local food shelf.
Keeping on the Halloween subject, this Halloween there is something really cool taking place. The kids from the Chisago Lakes National Honor Society will be out trick-or-treating. Don’t be alarmed when some teen kids come to your door. They are taking Halloween off to go door-to-door in hopes of filling the local food shelf. They will kindly ask for non-perishable foods to help locally. The food shelf is in an urgent time right now, this is the time when more families begin utilizing the food shelf. So the need is real and the need is now. Please help if you can.
In fact, the food shelf will be open on Halloween for public tours. Linda Barnes is the new director of services and she would love to meet you. Everyone is encouraged to come see what a gem we have in our community. Let Linda show you around the food shelf and if you would like to become a volunteer, they would love nothing more than to have you join their group of volunteers.
So I have been telling you about the wonderful people that put together the annual Kids Outerwear Fair at Trinity Lutheran Church. All of the hard work and the donations are so greatly appreciated, and now it’s time to help those of us in need. The Fair begins Thursday (today) and runs through Saturday. If your children are need of some warm winter clothes this winter but you can’t otherwise afford them, the wonderful people at the Kids Outerwear Fair have you covered. They have collected thousands of winter items that they will distribute for free to the needy.
The distribution times for the fair are October 26 and 27 from 2-7 p.m. and October 28 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event takes place in the basement of Trinity Lutheran Church which is located at 13025 Newel Ave. in Lindstrom. If you are in need, please don’t be ashamed, these folks truly want to help your family.
