Rushfeldt pleads not guilty
Wisconsin resident Bonnie Lea Rushfeldt has pled not guilty to operating a motor vehicle with unsafe equipment (ie: no brakes.)

Rushfeldt, 67, from Dresser, has a pre-trial set May 2,  before Judge Dowdal in Center City.  

Rushfeldt’s Ford Explorer ran over and pushed two women, dining outdoors in Taylors Falls, into a water-filled drainage ditch.  The women, 36 and 52, were airlifted for medical care in a Twin Cities Hospital.  Rushfeldt was backing into a parking spot at The Drive In and the Explorer continued in reverse injuring the diners seated at a picnic table.

Commissioner Walker new court date next week
Chisago County Commissioner Lora Walker has been  re-scheduled for an April 11 court appearance in Washington County Court, in Stillwater.  She is to respond to felony charges filed by the Mille Lacs County Attorney, who took over investigative materials developed by state patrol and filed charges of criminal vehicular homicide.  The case was sent to Mille Lacs to avoid any conflicts with county staff and a locally elected official.

Walker was driving a SUV in the wrong direction on I-35 and collided with a second car, killing the sole occupant of that car.   

The original court date of March 26 was called off due to attorney scheduling conflicts, according to Walker’s lawyer Kevin Sieben.

Walker has been participating in County Board meetings by Internet connection from a site within her commissioner district where she is working on rehabilitation due to her injuries--  but missed meetings March 7 and 21.

North Branch Police responded to a number of gas drive-off thefts reported at stations over the week.

Lakes Area Police issued a number of winter overnight parking violation tickets when plows could not clear streets in Chisago City adequately.

A North Branch resident reported a dog bite incident  at an address on Coventry Road April 1.

March 29 a couple of pyrenese dogs, one male one female, reported missing from neighborhood in Hidden Forest in Chisago City.

Saturday, March 28 a vehicle went out of gear and struck a rock wall at South Street and River Street in Taylors Falls.  Incident reported about 5 p.m.  Vehicle ws not occupied.

There was a reported theft from Lindstrom Fire Department. Loss is a generator and tools, from a rig.

March 27 a detached garage fire was reported at a residence south of Lindstrom, on 288th Street.  Called in about 6:10 p.m.

March 26 a single vehicle slid into a power pole and Lindstrom Fire Department was dispatched in case of fire.  The crash was about 6:50 p.m. on Oasis Road. Xcel was alerted to handle the equipment damage.

Authorities were called to a crash site at Stacy Trail and Hemingway Avenue March 26 about 5:30 p.m.  Nobody was seriously hurt but the two vehicles were no longer operable.  The nearly head-on crash involving a Subaru eastbound on Stacy Trail and a Chevy, westbound, that lost control on the curve.  Airbags deployed and only one passenger appeared to have suffered any cuts, according to preliminary reports. EMS did assess one person at the scene but they refused transport.
