April 8 a  stove-related fire had been put out when Lakes Area Police and Lindstrom Fire arrived at a fire call,  on Newlander Avenue about 6:30 p.m.  Firefighters remained to take charge of the scene.

A van hit a power pole and a tree stump April 8 in Taylors Falls, while going south on Chestnut St. in the area of Walnut St. about 2:30 a.m.  

Driver advised deputies he was swerving to avoid deer.  The four occupants were in need of medical attention and were taken by Lakes Region EMS to St. Croix Regional Medical Center.  

Driver had no driver’s license, according to preliminary details and the case is being reviewed by the county attorney.

April 7 a single vehicle F350 truck, apparently headed southbound on Olinda, crashed into a power pole near 250th and Olinda Trail and powerlines were downed.  
Driver reportedly was administered a field breath test and had a reading of .395.  Suspect was taken to Fairview in Wyoming for blood draw by warrant and to be checked for injuries.  Incident happened about 3:20 p.m.  

April 5 a reported natural gas odor sent Lindstrom firefighters out to investigate. The incident was at an address on Olinda Trail, Lindstrom. No gas was showing up on the sensing device.

April 4 North Branch Police booked a North Branch man, charged with criminal sexual conduct.  

The incident was reported in June 2017, when a nurse at the ER at Fairview in Wyoming alerted authorities the alleged victim was at the hospital.  The alleged assault had taken place at a North Branch home, the day before.  Injuries documented were consistent with a sexual assault.  Charges range from fourth degree criminal sexual conduct, to first degree causing injury.

The suspect was charged by summons, March 21, according to the county attorney.  It took the state labs a long time to complete DNA testing of multiple samples collected.  North Branch Police referred the case to the county just a few days before charging.  The suspect was brought in for a “book and release” process in advance of a Rule 8 court hearing April 17.
