Andy grew up in the Chisago area and was a 2009 graduate of Chisago Lakes High School. He was an awarded and standout athlete in swimming, diving, baseball and football. Andy loved the sunshine and warm weather, prompting his move to Hawaii in 2010. This was no surprise to his family and friends. Andy was always dressed for warm weather, wearing shorts year round even when it was -20. It was in Hawaii that he found his passion for growing plants and flowers. Andy developed a reputation for his work at the Hawaiian Sunshine Nursery. Several years later he relocated to Florida and was able to showcase his talent at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Florida. This past year he was asked to create a featured design for the Warhol Flowers in the Factory exhibit.
In his short time on earth, Andy truly lived. He traveled, loved being outdoors and listening to music. Andy also enjoyed playing disc golf with his dad and spending time with his mom, siblings and his dog Lani. He had an infectious smile and was a beautiful human being. He is loved and will be truly missed, but never forgotten as he touched so many lives.
Andy is survived by his parents Brad and Lisa Willhite; siblings Brian (Briana), Nikki (Dustin), David (Hailee) and Heidi (Tyler); grandparents Larry and Beverly Stroschein and Patricia Willhite; many aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
A celebration of Andy’s life will be held Thursday, August 16, 2018, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Paradise Park in Chisago City, MN. All are welcome. Please wear colorful and comfortable clothes. Bring a chair, stay a while and share your fondest memories of Andy.
Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
