Ki Chi Saga Days are upon us; take advantage of free anti-suicide talk
Friday has a customer appreciation day at MidwestOne Bank, a kids’ fun club including a bouncy house at Chuckie Lundquist Park and then the popular sandcastle building contest followed by a free family movie “Coco” all at Paradise Park.
Saturday is packed with fun things to do. There is a 5K run walk at Zion Church at 8 am. Search for Moberg’s missing horn beginning at 9 am - clues will be posted at city hall every hour. There’s the massive arts and crafts show in Moberg Park and the “big trucks” once again come to town at the Lakeside Elementary school. Frankie’s will host the kids fishing tournament (bring your kids they will win something!) at 10, at the beach at Paradise Park. There is a skateboarding contest at 11 and at noon Little Miss Ki Chi Saga will be crowned in Moberg Park. Stick around because Elvis will make an appearance at Moberg Park at 3 pm.
Frankie’s will host the street dance this year with Dirt Road Dixie taking the stage at 7pm. Fireworks cap the evening, over Paradise Park at dusk.
Sunday will have music in the park as well as a magic show at 1pm in Moberg park. The grande day parade works its way up (south to north) Old Towne Road at 2 pm. The tradition of a pie eating contest will once again close out Ki Chi Saga Days. Please make plans with family and friends to attend as many events as you can. You will be glad you did.
On a completely different topic-- suicide sadly is the only way out for some. At least that is how they perceive life. As someone who has successfully battled depression, I can vouch that it is nothing to take lightly. It always crushes me to learn about someone taking their life. There is help. August 26 at the Church of Latter Day Saints, in North Branch, Dr. Nancy Steffen will host a free seminar open to all who either are dealing with depression or are associated with someone who is.
The presentation begins at 6pm and is incredibly helpful and could potentially save someone’s life.
