Lakes Area Police noticed a yard firepit August 8 on Railroad Avenue in Chisago City, about 5:30 p.m. Prohibited materials were being burned and there was nobody watching the fire, which was very close to trees. Ticket issued.

August 10 Sheriff’s deputies were caled to home in Stacy area for an accidental gunshot wound. Stacy-Lent First Responders also assisted, Lakes Region gave medical care.  No charges pending, incident was agreed as accidental.

A K9 unit from the sheriff’s department was summoned to help in a hunt for a suspect in Rush City about 11:30 p.m. in the area of West Third.  The reportedly drunken male was arrested and taken in without incident.

Facebook allowed sheriff’s deputies to identify the owner of a dog found injured and malnourished August 10, near Quinlan Street, south of Center City.  Photos of the dog were posted on-line by deputies and the dog was claimed.  Deputies are looking into how the animal had been hurt and starved.  Blue Sky Veterinary Clinic was helpful in caring for the dog until he could be sent to Northwoods Humane Society or the owner was cleared to reclaim the dog.

August 12
Porta-Potties at Beach Park in Lindstrom were tipped and vandalized and the canoe storage rack was damaged.  Happened sometime overnight.

Lakes Area and sheriff’s deputies set up a perimeter around a home on Pleasant Valley Road about 3 p.m. to contain movements of a suspect believed to have fled from in the house when authorities arrived. The man was takn into custody without incident.

Taylors Falls incident now set for trial in October
The trial for Bonnie Lea Rushfeldt, 68,  has been pushed back from the trial calendar for August to October.  

The Dresser, Wisconsin woman is accused of reckless vehicle operation and having unsafe equipment in connection to an incident at the Drive In restuarant, in Taylors Falls, July 1, 2017. Two women diners were seriously hurt when Rushfeldt’s SUV ran them over in reverse and dragged them from a picnic table into a water-filled creek on the edge of the outdoor dining area.

The trial is newly scheduled to be held in Judge Dowdal’s courtroom October 1.
