April 1, 1958 - August 20, 2018.
A much-loved father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, John Lundgren Sr., 60, of North Branch, MN, passed away peacefully at his home August 20, 2018 with his family present, following a brave battle with lung cancer.
He was born April 1, 1958 in Saint Paul, MN, and grew up in Scandia, Minnesota. He graduated from Forest Lake High School in 1976 and went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps for six years. Following his time in the service, John served as a heavy equipment mechanic, Hawaiian volcanoes tour guide and professional artist, specializing in wildlife murals and portraits. John enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and interests, from woodworking and cabinet making, to race car driving and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed fishing and boating with his friends and family on the St. Croix River.
He is survived by his son John (Annie) Lundgren Jr.; stepson Josh (Rebekah) Lindner, stepdaughter Danaya (Sean Eckert) Lindner; brother Carl (Jane) Lundgren; stepmother Betty Lundgren; and close family friends, Margie (Ivan) Kollar, Vern (Val) Anderson, and Sandy (Andy) Norby. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Vivian Lundgren, John “Jack” Lundgren III and Bentley Wilson. He was preceded in death by his father George Lundgren and mother Violet Lundgren.
