Wow, what a weekend we had for tree lighting ceremonies.  Lindstrom had the luck of a beautiful snowfall during theirs. Chisago City and Lindstrom both had tons of people come out to kick off the Christmas season.  The kids who attended got to see Santa and Mrs. Claus and from the looks of it, they couldn't be more excited.  Thanks to both of the cities for doing such a wonderful job, it was great.

If you missed Santa over the weekend, don't worry, Saturday Santa will be making another appearance at the Amador Town Hall.  Beginning at 2 pm, Santa and Mrs. Claus will make their appearance. Bring your kids, your camera and your appetite. There will be a bake sale along with hand painted Christmas bulbs.  If you would like to donate a baked good for the event, they ask you to please drop off at the Amador Town Hall prior to the event.

This Christmas there are some people that take time out of their Christmas with their families to provide a free Christmas meal. The meal is put on by volunteers with the hopes that no one will have to spend Christmas alone. The dinner runs from noon to 1:15 pm and is served at the fellowship hall. For those of you who are not familiar with the church it is located by the football field at the Middle School on First Avenue.  I am writing about this pretty early I know, but the real reason I am writing this week is to seek volunteers. They are in need of servers, people to cook turkeys, sides and whatever.  If you would like to volunteer it would be most appreciated.  I would advise you to contact the church at 257-4306 to help. Thank you for considering it.  If you would like to attend the meal they ask that you please make a reservation by calling the same number.

Speaking of First United Methodist, on December 15 they will once again be hosting their super popular Living Nativity. The shows begin at 6 pm and run every hour.  The shows are outside at the bandshell. Take it from someone who has been to the last five or six years - it is awesome.  They invite you and your family to come experience the true meaning of Christmas. Make sure to bundle up, coffee and refreshments will be served in the church after the shows.

There is still time for your kids to submit their entry of our annual Christmas Coloring Contest.  The picture of a snowman is on page 9 of our Gift Guide that came out on Thanksgiving.  If you don’t have the guide anymore, you can come into the Press and grab one.  There will be a prize winner for ages 3-5, 6-8 and 9-11.  You can drop them off here or mail them to PO Box 748, Lindstrom, MN 55045.

As you are reading this, you probaby are reading it a day later than normal.  The reason for the late delivery is President Trump has closed the Federal Offices on wednesday to honor the late President George H.W. Bush. Because it came up on us so quickly, we really didn’t have time to plan accordingly.  So we apologize for the tardy delivery of your paper.

The folks at Security state Bank of Marine and Security State Agency would love to invite you to their annual Christmas open houses. Santa will make an appearance at 4 pm at all locations.  They always have great snacks and giveaways.  Bring your cameras.  They do ask if at al possible, that you make a toy donation to the Santa Anonymous program.  You will not have better cookies than the ones they serve.
