Chisago Lakes 3, River Falls 2 (O.T.)
In the battle of Wildcats versus Wildcats, Ales Walden scored an unassisted goal at 6:21 of overtime to give Chisago Lakes a 3-2 win over River Falls (Wisc.) Tuesday, December 4 at Wildcat Centre Arena in River Falls.

River Falls got on the scoreboard first with a goal at 6:36 of the first period.  But Jonny Bodell answered with an unassisted goal just 20 seconds later for Chisago to tie the game at 1-1.  Jackson Waltman gave CHisago a 2-1 lead with a power play goal at 10:59 of the first period, assisted by Thomas Overgaard and Justin Lawry.  Neither team scored in the second period.  River Falls tied the game with seven minutes left in the third period, setting the stage for Walden’s overtime heroics.  Chisago Lakes outshot River Falls 45-27 for the game.

Chisago Lakes 5, Monticello 3
The Wildcats fell behind the Monticello Magic 3-0 midway through the second period but came roaring back with five straight goals to beat last year’s section champs 5-3 last Thursday, December 6 at Chisago Lakes Arena.  Tate Swanson scored the game-winner at 13:25 of the third period, assisted by Jackson Waltman.  Thomas Overgaard added an empty-netter with 21 seconds left in the game for the final margin of victory.  The Wildcats outshot the Magic 35-27 for the game and Wildcat goalie Brooks Stangl stopped 24 of the 27 shots he faced.

The Magic scored an early power play goal to take a 1-0 lead after the first period.  In the second period, Monticello added another power play goal.  And at 10:35 of the period, they scored at even strength to take what appeared to be a commanding 3-0 lead.  Overgaard got the Wildcats on the board with a goal just over a minute later, assisted by Waltman.  Justin Lawry scored with just over a minute left in the period to cut the Monticello lead to 3-2.  Waltman and Overgaard got the assists.

The score stayed that way until 10:15 of the third period, when Swanson scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at 3-3.  And when he scored the go-ahead goal just three minutes later, it sent the arena into a frenzy.
