He enjoyed model trains, making an elaborate running train display. He painted each prop and scene, as well as engineered the mechanics of this display. He also enjoyed fishing, cooking his famous “burnt chicken” on BKD, happy hours with friends and family, and being an all-around goof.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife Carol; parents Bob and Bertha Kane; brother Rick Kane; grandson Andrew Kane; and brother-in-law Jim Walsh.
He is survived by his wife Iris Michaelis; children Anastasia (John) Ernest, Robert (Corine) Kane, Juliette (Steve) Haines, Genevieve (Duane) Emery, Kathleen (Scott) Corey, and John (Carrie) Kane; 15 grandchildren; one great grandchild and several bonus greats; sisters Roberta (Jim) Fregeau, and Phyllis Walsh; sister-in-law Diane Kane; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation 1-5 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom and one hour prior to the Mass at Church. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2018 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Lindstrom. Interment Hillside Cemetery in Center City, Minnesota.
