Clifford Swenson age 86, of Shafer, MN, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 after losing his battle with intestinal cancer.

He was born November 10, 1931 to Carl and Bertha (Kallman) Swenson on their farm in Almelund, MN. He graduated from North Branch High School with the class of 1949. He married Marilyn Hesner in June of 1954. They lived on the farm next to his parents for seven years, during which time their daughters Pam and Patrice were born. After they moved to Center City he started working for Shafer Contracting, working his way up to supervisor, until his retirement at age 62. Cliff was a skilled carpenter and built their log home where they have lived for the past 45 years.

He loved the great outdoors, hunting and fishing. He especially cherished his 17 annual fly-in fishing trips to Canada with friends and family. Cliff and Marilyn loved to travel and went to many interesting places around the world. Cliff’s passion for flying his small plane took many people on fun adventures. After all that they settled down a little so they could spoil their Yorkie, Lola, and a rather feisty cat, Blossom, who only had eyes for Cliff. He also enjoyed going to coffee, shaking dice, playing cribbage and feeding the wildlife that everyone enjoyed watching. He leaves behind many fat squirrels.

Cliff is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 63 years; daughter Pam Swenson of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Tessa Rae Schuster, Perrin Schuster, and Jennifer (Aaron) Kasper; great-grandchildren Jack and Sam Kasper; sister Doris Peterson of Long Prairie, MN, and son-in-law Griggs Ward of Asheville, NC; many nieces, nephews and their children, all of whom he loved dearly.

Cliff is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Bertha; daughter, Patrice Ward; brother Roy Swenson; sisters Marian Chartrand and Mabel Swenson.

A special thanks to the wonderful, caring staff at the Osceola Hospital, Christian Community, Home of Osceola and Adoray Hospice. Memorials preferred to Adoray Hospice.

A celebration of life will be held from 2-4 pm, Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Grandstrand Funeral Home, 11900 Lake Lane North, Lindstrom. Condolences may be expressed online at www.grand strandfh.com.
