Marguerite Eleanor Sellman died February 11, 2018, at Brask Haven Assisted Living near Spring Lake where she had resided for the last five and a quarter years. 

Marguerite is survived by her sister, Doris Lundeen of St. Croix Falls, WI; brother Karl Warren Magnuson of Washington State; sons Curtis (Linda) of Almelund, Jerry of Minneapolis, and David (Jan) of Minnetonka, nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings.  

She was born on March 6, 1920 in Branch Township, Chisago County, MN to Melver and Martha Magnuson.  The family moved to Richfield when she was three where she went to Wood Lake School.  The family lived at 75th and Grand until she was 12, when they moved back to the farm.  She then attended the old Hawkinson School.  She graduated from North Branch High School in 1938 and went to work in the city for two years doing housework.  She attended St. Cloud Teachers College from 1940 to 1942 and then taught elementary school in Almelund from 1942 to 1944 when she married Rudolph Sellman on June 30.  She and Rudy lived on a farm near Almelund where they took care of her husband’s parents until their deaths.  Since you could not teach and be married at that time, she stayed home and raised her sons until 1958 when she returned to teaching.  She continued to teach in Almelund and North Branch until 1978 when her husband retired. 

After Rudy died in 2000 she remained on the farm for two years and then moved into an apartment building in North Branch for 10 years. After a short stay at an assisted living home in Taylors Falls, she has been at Brask Haven for the last five and a half years.  The family wishes to thank Jodi and Rob Brask and their staff at Brask Haven for being such wonderful, loving caregivers for Marguerite these last years.  They were a gift to her and the family.  

Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Almelund with Rev. Marla Amborn officiating.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at church on Monday.  Interment will follow the service in Almelund Cemetery.
